You can set up extension codes that your AI Receptionist can handle to reroute the caller. This is especially useful if your callers already know the extension for the party they would like to connect with.
1. Locate the "Extension Digits" Option
Visit your My AI Front Desk dashboard and head to the “🤖 Advanced Features” section. Look for the “🔢Extension Digits” option.
2. Setting Up Extension Codes
With Extension Digits, you can assign extension codes like,, press 1 for Sales, 2 for Support, 3 for Billing, and so on.
💡 Tip: If you are using this feature, we recommend you tell callers about it in the greeting phrase. For example, "If you already know your party's extension, you can dial it after I finish talking. You can also dial it anytime by saying 'dial an extension'".
Please note, you must enter a full form phone number to transfer the call. If you would like to transfer calls to an extension in your PBX, please grab a Direct Inward Dialing number from your phone provider. This will allow you to find a standalone number that connects directly to the extension you want.
3. Rerouting with Extension Codes
Once you've set up your extension codes, your AI receptionist will be able to listen for dialed extensions. Callers simply press the designated extension to be connected with the correct party.
That's it! Now you know how to set up extension digits for your AI phone receptionist.
